Rock of Ages is BACK! #TheRockOfAgesPH

Broadway’s Biggest Party returns to Manila! ROCK OF AGES, the sold out smash hit musical is back one last time for a very limited run from Oct 31 – Nov 9, 2014 at the Meralco Theatre.

Featuring classic rock songs from the 80s like We Built This City, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, I Wanna Rock, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, and Don’t Stop Believin’,  ROCK OF AGES  tells the story of Drew and Sherrie, two young dreamers who meet on the Sunset Strip and find that sometimes, when your dreams get dashed, you end up with a gift far more precious than that which you set out to find.  All that in a face-melting, laugh-a-minute, rocking show! It continues to run on Broadway to sold out crowds.

MiG Ayesa who took Manila by storm two years ago  returns to the stage as Stacee Jaxx, the rockstar, nay rock god, whose performance may or may not save a small club on the Sunset Strip that is being  threatened  with closure.  Stacee ends up crashing on budding lovers and Sunset Strip dreamers — Drew and Sherrie.

MiG Ayesa has performed in West End musicals such as BUDDY, RENT and WE WILL ROCK YOU. On Broadway he has performed in ROCK OF AGES and BURN THE FLOOR.  He was a top 3 finalist on Rockstar:INXS.

“Even from my first rehearsal with the cast two years ago, I knew that we had something special.  It’s a great gift to be able to do the show again in Manila for the third time!” says MiG.
Nyoy Volante, who earned rave reviews for his performance as Donkey in the hit run of SHREK, returns to the role of Drew.

Rounding off this powerhouse cast are Jett Pangan as Lonny, Jamie Wilson as Dennis,  Calvin Millado as Hertz, Bibo Reyes as Franz and Jinky Llamanzares as Justice Charlier. Joining the cast are Kayla Rivera as Sherrie and Thea Tadiar Everley as Regina.  ROCK OF AGES is directed by Chari Arespacochaga, Lighting Design by Driscoll Otto, Assistant Direction by Jamie Wilson, Choreography by Cecile Martinez, Set Design by Lex Marcos and Denis Lagdameo, Costume Design by Pepsi Herrera and Twinkle Zamora, Sound Design by Deniz Akyurek, Musical Direction by Ceejay Javier and Vocal Coaching by ManMan Angsico.

Kayla, who has made her mark as a high wattage musical theatre actress in shows such as IN THE HEIGHTS, ALADDIN and THE ADDAMS FAMILY says of joining the ROCK OF AGES cast, “I am so excited to be taking on the role of Sherrie, unleashing the more spunky and sexy side of me.  To be working alongside MiG Ayesa and this amazing cast is such an honor.  MiG lights up the room with his very warm personality and rockstar presence!”

ROCK OF AGES continues to run on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre and is also currently touring the US. It is produced in the Philippines by Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group. It’s the final countdown for ROCK OF AGES! Don’t miss Broadway’s Biggest Party! Get your tickets now at Ticketworld 891-9999.

Just a quick sharing, I was really surprised that Victoria Court sponsored this event. I WOULD LOVE to see a Rock of Ages inspired thematic room in the future! It's very cool to relive the moment as Drew for the boys and Sherie for the girls (Don't Stop Believin' on cue). Hahaha. But on a serious note, Victoria Court has been really busy doing all the marketing campaigns for their party rooms. If you'd ask me, YES, I've been to some of their party thematic rooms and I'm always in AWE every time I attend parties in their world class interiors.

Rock of Ages is made possible by Metrobank, Solar Entertainment Channels: Jack TV, Jack CIty and 2nd Avenue, The Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, BusinessWorld, Delta Airlines, CATS Motors Inc., Oakwood Premier Joy~Nostalg Center Manila, Make Up Forever, Portfolio Photography Studio, Monster Radio RX 93.1, Manila Broadcasting Company, Mellow 94.7 Sounds Good, Hit Productions, Imatech, Confetti Effects, Mandaue Foam Furniture Center, A.Shop, Digipost, Studio M, Yoshinoya, Gerry’s Grill, Shakey’s, Victoria Court, Meralco Theater and The City of Pasig.

Experience: #DPOP 1st Professional Blogging Summit!

As a blogger, you get the chance to get invited on events from product or service launch to press conference, from movie screenings to company anniversary celebrations, from workshops to advocacy related activities and a lot more. But as time goes by, especially when invites come from one after the another, you need to prioritize which event will most benefit you as a blogger, more importantly as a person.

Last weekend, an event organized by two of the most influential people in the blogosphere come to life: #DPOP 1st Professional Blogging Summit was held in A.Venue Mall, Makati Ave. Jeoff Solas, a digital marketer and professor, together with Janette Toral, e-commerce advocate and book author, come up with #DPOP which means Digital Pop. It's a platform where they discuss anything digital.

Janette Toral

Speakers from different walks of life shared their experiences on blogging. Azrael Codilla talks about how to build, connect, engage and contribute to the blogging community that each one is belonging to. What strike me the most about his presentation is when he shared "other people's mistake is a freebie for you to learn from it". There's always a silver lining in bad situations and here, as he shared it, we should always treat misfortunes as a way of improving ourselves instead of putting us or others down and gave up. We should use our "weaknesses" for us to convert it as our strengths.

Azrael Codilla

Ross del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipins, shared his experiences from then up to now with his "Dog Story" presentation. I find it too interesting how he presented his journey through dogs since I have Pippo, a cross breed of Japanese Spitz  and Jack Russel, at home. He discussed how he tried to change the image he built online to be more on the positive side since he started in a way that people misinterpreted him because of his straight to the point views and opinions. He also shared his experience on taking sides when people attack the brands he's promoting. There are four (4) sides you can choose from according to him. First is you'll take side A. Second is you'll take side B. Third is you'll take both sides. Fourth is you'll not take any side.

Ross Del Rosario

JayL Aquino on the other hand discussed his journey through social media and how he interacts with his followers. Seph Cham, a fashion blogger, who made his way to the limelight by creating unique content by establishing good relationships with the brands he's endorsing, shared that when he's  just starting, he made himself visible in bazaars so that people can really interact with him. Dragging yourself to brands will not help you that much but when they see that you're visible enough, they will think of you as someone who can really represent their products or services.

JayL Aquino

Seph Cham

Sai Montes shared her journey about selling items online. A very informative slides about creating a business plan, knowing the basics of selling, planning the content, ways to engage with customers and product promotions. Now, Sai Montes established her own make-up online shop. Jeoff Solas shared his expertise as a PR. Campaigns may run for months but PR or relationship may it be good or bad will remain even for years. As an effective PR, one must know about the brand he/she is representing, with out of the box perspective and believes on what the product or service can do. Establishing a good relationship with the brand is hard to do but as time goes by, if you've done a great job even with a single project, opportunities will come back  to you. Brands will look after you since you earn their trust and they know that you can deliver. One more thing that I like about his presentation is when he let us group ourselves into ten (10) and share our own journey in blogging. It helps us to understand where each bloggers are coming from, each ones interests and the reasons why are we blogging.

Jeoff Solas

group discussion. :)

I am very much happy that I attended #DPOP 1st Professional Blogging Summit. With all the insights I got from the event and conversation I had with my fellow bloggers, especially that small talk with Janette, I am very inspired. The passion in me kept on burning and I hope that somehow, I inspire some of the people I've interacted with. Again, thank you Jeoff and Janette for organizing this very useful, informative and one of a kind event. Thank you also to the sponsors (A. Venue, Profriends (Property Company of Friends, Inc.), Island Rose, SaladBox) who believed with #DPOP's cause. Cheers to blogging!

#TechUpdate: After Android KitKat, What's Next?

image from www.e2save.com

According to Dan Seifert of The Verge.com, after an extended testing and preview period, Google has announced the final release of Android L, its latest version of the world's most popular mobile platform. Android 5.0 Lollipop is debuting on three new Nexus devices — the Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet, and Nexus Player streaming media device — and will be available on the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Google Play Edition devices in the coming weeks.

Lollipop's most obvious new features come in the form of visual enhancements and user interface changes, which Google has dubbed Material Design. The platform has new, more fluid animations, a cleaner design with a bolder color palette, a revamped multi-tasking menu, and offers new ways to interact with your voice. Many of the new Material Design features can be seen in the recent updates that Google has released for its own Android apps such as Google+. The Material Design initiative is meant to unify the software's look and feel across various form factors, whether that's a tablet, smartphone, home media streamer, or something else.

image from www.techradar.com

In addition to a visual overhaul, Lollipop brings over 5,000 new APIs for developers to tap into and lets multiple different Android devices with various form factors work better together. Google says that things such as songs, photos, apps, and recent searches can be seamlessly synced across various Android devices. Lollipop also includes new notification controls to limit alerts during meetings and other times, a new battery saver mode that can eke out 90 more minutes of life between charges, multiple user accounts, guest user modes, and new ways to secure your device via trusted Bluetooth connections. Lollipop will also include a protection against resetting the phone to factory defaults, which is designed to make it difficult for phone thieves to use a stolen device. Many of these features have been implemented by various Android device makers on their own smartphones and tablets for some time, but Google is now making sure they are part of the core Android experience.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is a big release for Google — it's the most significant visual update to Android since 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was released in 2011, and it lays the foundation for Android to grow as a platform outside of smartphones and tablets. Google is very clearly pushing Android as the software for the future, and it wants Android to be on every connected device we interact with. Lollipop is the first step to getting there.

How about you? What are your thoughts regarding Android's newest OS release?

I am an avid fan of reality TV shows and American Idol is one of those shows I am truly addicted to. But because I am working for 10 hours a day and traveling from work to home eats up most of my time, I can't watch it during prime time. Inauguration of The Arch Angel Center for Culture and Arts at #GKEnchantedFarm

Archie King with Georgina Wilson and Jose Luis Oquinena

The partnership of Gawad Kalinga and the Angelo King Foundation started back in 2006 to build livelihood centers in different Gawad Kalinga communities all over the country. From there, the vision and advocacy of Gawad Kalinga and its battle of “Walang Iwanan” has been very close to Archie King’s heart.

Tony Meloto, Archie King, Georgina Wilson and Jose Luis Oquinena

Last 2013, The Arch Angel Center for Arts and Culture in the Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm was built in partnership with Victoria Court and Hotel La Corona to celebrate the Spirit of Bayanihan and the Miracles of Solidarity. As Gawad Kalinga embarks on its 2nd phase of development, the Arch Angel Center for Arts and Culture serves as a reminder of the sacrifice and Heroism of everyday Filipinos who contribute in nation building.

It's indeed a great event!
