#ArtPH - Ryan Rubio's Instinctual Creation

Ryan Rubio sources rocks such as green quartz, granite, and silica from the seas and rivers of his hometown Paracale. For him, any material could be used and any time a perfect time for a search. He chooses the rocks that fit the image he has in mind, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle still unclear in his vision. "I see this is a collaboration with nature," he said. There are certain materials that he uses as is - without any alteration as he sees these resources as already perfect in the way nature formed them. They are left untouched except for a coat of gloss to let their natural color come out. The rocks have distinct shades and shapes that no tool could ever create. It is only through inherent factors like heat, salinity, depth of water that it is possible to attain such characteristics.

He shared that he wanted to moved the 2D images from his painting to 3D images thus resulting to Instinctual Creation. Before he transitioned to stones, he is using wood and metal as his material for his artworks.

Yes Be Yes! No Be No!
Being an artist will come out naturally in each and everyone of us. Everyone will have his or her own struggles. - Ryan Rubio.
