Getting ready for my flight. Bound to Venice!

The universal love of traveling is something Maybank Philippines understands and wishes to address. Travel is a luxury that allows you to experience new things and create precious memories. For many Filipinos, travel to distant places is a dream we want to fulfill. The opportunity to explore different places around the globe is what we work hard for and look forward to.

Maybank can serve and enhance this major lifestyle passion point through its credit cards which offer financial flexibility with borderless discounts and privileges that cater to cardholders, wherever in the world they may be.

In the bank’s desire to improve service to loyal customers, Maybank believes there is no better benefit than to offer its Platinum MasterCard cardholders the priceless experience of travel. “What people acquire from traveling – new memories, learning about different cultures, gaining new skills, a new perspective – are what we believe to be the things that matter most, and better than anything money can buy,” explains Maybank Cards and Unsecured Lending Head Eden Leah V. Estrella.

The Luxe Bus!

Since introducing its credit cards in the Philippines, with MasterCard as its partner, Maybank has offered amazing perks to cardholders that allow for rewarding, worry-free and convenient travel and spending.

Inside the Luxe Bus

To ensure the safety of the cardholders, every Maybank credit card contains an EMV-compliant chip to help prevent fraudulent transactions. No matter where they are in the world, an SMS is sent to the customer’s mobile phone after every transaction when they use the credit card. This allows cardholders to track their purchases and protects them from unauthorized transactions. Further security measures are in place with Maybank Secure Online Shopping (MSOS), which requires cardholders to enter a one-time password received via SMS before an online transaction at 3D secure websites.

On top of safety and security, Maybank credit cards offer unique and enjoyable travel benefits. Philippine-issued cardholders can shop and dine like the locals do in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Cambodia with cross-border privileges. Maybank Philippines cardholders can also enjoy discounts and freebies offered at local merchants from other countries.

The perks and discounts just get better as Maybank offers an attractive miles program and cashback benefit all in a single card. For every P50 spent using the Maybank Platinum MasterCard, cardholders earn 1 Asia Mile or 1 KrisFlyer Mile. A big plus is that using the Platinum card overseas also earns cardholders a 1% cashback rebate.

#SocialMedia - Angel Locsin is the newest brand ambassador of Smart Padala!

Smart Padala, the remittance brand of PayMaya Philippines (formerly Smart eMoney, Inc.), launches today its new campaign with Angel Locsin as its brand ambassador as part of efforts to further strengthen its leadership in the remittance service industry.

Padalapit with Smart Padala

The new campaign aims to reinforce the brand message of Smart Padala which is PadaLapit

Based on data from the first National Baseline Survey on Financial Inclusion released by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas mid-2015, it is estimated that on average, Filipinos take around 22 minutes to reach the nearest financial services touch point. It also costs an average of P43 for a roundtrip fare.

Nicole Hiyala and Chris Tsuper hosted the event. Funny as usual.

With 15,000 Smart Padala centers nationwide, there is a Smart Padala center in almost every municipality so users do not need to travel, spend for the fare, and consume time just to send or receive money remittances. Smart Padala makes home feel closer by sending the remittances of family breadwinners to their loved ones in the most accessible, convenient, and secure manner. These centers include the recently launched Smart Padala International flagship stores that enable Filipinos to receive the remittances of their loved ones abroad.

“Since the brand was launched over ten years ago, Smart Padala has been enabling our countrymen to send and receive money anywhere in the country in a fast, easy, secure, and affordable manner. With this campaign, we reaffirm and strengthen this ‘PadaLapit’ brand that has made us a fixture of Filipino life,” said Benjie Fernandez, co-COO of PayMaya Philippines and COO of Voyager Innovations.

Known to be a family-oriented celebrity and an advocate of various causes, Angel Locsin was chosen by Smart Padala as the ideal ambassador for the brand as it intensifies its push for financial inclusion.

“Angel Locsin represents the family and service-oriented values of Smart Padala. Aside from being a devoted daughter, she also supports advocacies such as the Philippine Red Cross and women’s rights. We’re happy to welcome her to the Smart Padala family,” said Lawrence Ferrer, Vice President and Head of Domestic Business at PayMaya Philippines.

“I’m proud to be the new ambassador of Smart Padala. Naniniwala ako sa brand dahil malaki ang naitutulong ng Smart Padala sa mga manggagawa at pamilyang Pilipino. By representing the brand, I hope to help in Smart Padala’s mission to uplift more lives and communities,” said Angel Locsin.

On top of enabling mobile money remittance, Smart Padala also fosters entrepreneurship in the community.

“The backbone of our business is our army of Smart Padala community partners. Part of our mission is to help families and communities by providing micro-entrepreneurship opportunities. Anyone can be our partner and open a Padala center — all they need is a cellular phone, our basic business documentary requirements, and the driving passion to be of service,” said Paolo Azzola, Managing Director and co-COO of PayMaya Philippines.

PadaLapit Lang with Smart Padala!

With 15,000 Padala centers nationwide, sending money to loved ones anywhere in the country can be as simple as buying mobile load from a nearby sari-sari store.

To make mobile money more inclusive, Smart Padala launched last year its Pick-Up Anywhere service, which allows users to send money to anyone, regardless of mobile network, to be redeemed at any Smart Padala center nationwide.

It also launched promos such as Padalang Padalow for lower customer service fees and incentives to Padala partners.

Smart Padala is truly a Filipino brand. It has made its mark not only as the global pioneer in mobile money but as an inclusive financial services enabler, making lives easier for the unconnected, unbanked and uncarded. We are committed in bringing this vision of bridging the digital divide through relevant services such as Smart Padala,” said Orlando B. Vea, President and CEO at PayMaya Phiippines.

PayMaya Philippines is the digital financial services unit of PLDT and Smart Communications (Smart), under the Voyager Group. Aside from Smart Padala, among its innovative services include: PayMaya, the leading over-the-top digital payments app in the Philippine market; PayMaya Business, suite of solutions for businesses of any size; and Smart Money, the pioneering mobile money service linked to the Smart SIM and mobile phone. To know more about Smart Padala, visit www.smartpadala.ph and like its official Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SmartPadalaPH.

See you when I see you!

#FoodPH - It's #AlwaysAFeast at Hukad sa Golden Cowrie!

Hukad sa Golden Cowrie recently opened its first branch in Luzon. Located at Trinoma Mall in Quezon City, the Cebu-grown brand promises to provide a real feast experience.

“Meals at our restaurants are synonymous to great food,  family, celebrations, fun, and having great conversations,” describes General Manager, Kenneth Kokseng.

Judy and her magic rice bucket. :)

Hukad’s menu of modern Filipino cuisine lists more than a hundred dishes including its best-selling Lechon Cebu. Other big hits are Crispy Pata (which won People’s Choice for Best Crispy Pata in a Sunstar Cebu newspaper survey), Pork Sisig, Lechon Kawali, Grilled Pork Belly, and Chicken Pandan. Among the appetizers, guests frequently go for the Bantayan Baked Scallops, Pancit Guisado, and Calamares. Also popular are the Ngohiong, Adobong Kangkong, Seafood Pancit Habhab, Grilled Tuna Belly, and  Sizzling Bangus. For dessert, Budbud Turon and  Halo-Halo are the top options. Equally interesting is their line of vegetarian dishes that features Bloodless Dinuguan made with tofu, and Pako (fiddlehead fern) Salad with Calamari.

Many Vegans will truly enjoy this dish.

Living up to its name (Hukad means limitless serving of food or to limitlessly serve food on one’s plate), the restaurant gives diners the option to have unlimited rice with their orders, all savored on plates lined with banana leaves. “Our serving sizes are good for sharing that’s why in Hukad, it’s always a feast. We use local ingredients like scallops fresh from Bantayan Island of Northern Cebu.  We also have local partners in towns known for their organic production of various ingredients such as Dalaguete (Cebu’s Vegetable Basket),” Kenneth adds.

Hukad’s homey atmosphere was created by interior designer Hannah Lim of HL Designs. The ceiling which mirrors tree branches playfully resembles a jigsaw puzzle. Suspended from it are iconic puso-shaped lamps inspired by rice wrapped and boiled in a casing of woven coconut leaves typically served during meals in Cebu. The coco shells, crushed bamboo, and laminate details seen all around showcase Cebuano craftsmanship and ingenuity.

Festive and at the same time traditional

Homey and cool

Golden Cowrie traces its origins to 1982 when its pioneer outlet was opened in Lahug. The brand Hukad was developed in 2008 as a handle for the mall-based branches of Golden Cowrie.

After the initial call for franchisees in 2010, expansion became rapid. To maintain consistency, they adhere to standard recipes. “Each product is produced and supplied by our commissary which follows stringent quality controls. We have monthly store audits to ensure they follow our mandate on food processes,” guarantees Director for Product Development,  Kristine De La Riva-Kokseng.

Of course, you shouldn't miss their dessert offering.

Budbud Turon.
From the name itself, this dessert composed of sticky rice covered with lumpia wrapper, fried and then glazed with sugar, mango syrup, latik and sesame seeds.

Hukad and Golden Cowrie currently have 24 locations across the country. Eight of which are company-owned while 16 are franchised.  The goal is to have 100 stores by 2021. Hukad-Trinoma franchisee Howard Dee is proud to be instrumental in bringing Hukad to Metro Manila. “We eat there when we go to Cebu for vacation. Even my in-laws have been loyal clients.,” he reveals.

Cebu City's finest dishes more closer to our hearts.

Currently running at the newest outlet is the “Sulit Meals at 149” promo, available from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily. Also being offered are the Feast Bundles, pre-set menus good for four persons that start at P1,399. The Trinoma branch can seat a total of 98 guests and has a function room that can accommodate 24 persons. They may be reached at (0917) 8094324.

#SocialMedia - Digital Now! 2016 Philippine ICT Leadership Convention Experience

There's no other time but NOW!

PLDT ALPHA Enterprise, together with leading market research, analysis, and advisory firm IDC, once again hosted the Philippine ICT Leadership Convention entitled “Digital Now”, held from June 20-21, 2016 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.  This two-day affair gathered the region’s leading business figures and technology experts who shared valuable insights on leveraging the Third Platform of disruptive technologies (Social, Mobility, Analytics, Cloud, and Security) towards enterprise domination in the digital era.

More than five hundred C-level executives, business leaders, owners and decision makers from the country’s top enterprises across various industries attended the 2016 Philippine ICT Leadership Convention.  This significant event became a venue for attendees to learn more about what the future holds for the digital enterprise, with an insight on breaking technologies that will prominently figure in their business roadmap, and exciting solutions that they view first-hand through the demos and exhibits specially organized for the convention.

I like the SciFi Concept of this event.

“Today, going digital is no longer just an option for enterprises and organizations. The Philippine ICT Leadership Convention will highlight the strategic challenges and opportunities that digital technologies present to Philippine companies,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

A walkthrough on the exhibition area!

“The advent of new digital platforms has introduced disruptive technologies that are changing the way enterprises are interacting with consumers and the digital world. Through the convention, PLDT, along with industry leaders, will provide our insights to serve as a knowledge base for enterprises, enable them to take advantage of these disruptive technologies, and promote growth in their businesses,” said PLDT Executive Vice President and ePLDT CEO Eric R. Alberto.

One of the booths in the exhibition area.

Attendees participated in breakout workshops focused on specific technology tracks that include Data Center and Cloud, Big Data and Analytics, M2M and Internet of Things, Digital Engagement, Cyber Security, and Unified Communications and Collaboration. These topics, designed to provide a holistic approach to the benefits of technology tracks to enterprises, enabled participants to better understand the solutions that were at their disposal, and how these can significantly impact their businesses.

Another breakthrough for ICT industry! I salute PLDT for coming up with this convention.
