#GodspellMNL - A Broadway Rock Opera about Jesus now in the Philippines!

To be honest with you, I am not aware that a material (Godspell) like this exists until I see familiar faces from the Philippine theater scene rehearsing for it.

Godspell is a musical by Stephen Schwartz based on a book written by John Michael Tebelak. This musical is composed of series of parables based on the Gospel of Matthew and some accounts from Gospel of Luke. Originally, Godspell is just a master thesis of the playwright, John.

For its Manila run,  MusicArtes Inc. bring this back to life as their first ever Broadway rock opera production. Directed by Dr. Anton Juan, each character shines as the story moves from one parable to another.

I am giving you 3 MAJOR reasons on why you shouldn't miss Godspell Manila!

1. All Star Cast

Jef Flores, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, OJ Mariano, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Caisa Borromeo, Poppert Bernadas, Topper Fabregas, Red Concepcion,  Abi Sulit, Maronne Cruz, Rhenz Gabalonzo, and Gab Pangilinan. Need I say more? These bunch of talented world class actors are all set to perform in front of thousands of audience who wanted to be entertained and at the same time be reminded of Christ's teachings. I don't know if you know each one of them but try to google their names and you'll discover that they starred in most of the major theater productions in the country. Also, they are award winning from their own fields.
2. Powerful vocals

OJ Mariano and the rest of Godspell Manila cast.

This musical, apart from awesome choreography done by Dexter Martinez Santos and musical direction of Ejay Yatco, Godspell Manila, will surely rock you out of your seats as you sing along with songs belted out, praising Jesus. Each character has been given a moment to shine and you'll surely remain in awe after the whole show. While watching it, all I can say is ,"I am so proud to be a Filipino as these awesome folks proved how talented we are as a nation". I was really surprised with Abi Sulit and Maronne Cruz' spotlight. It's my first time to watch them perform in a musical. Also, Jef Flores done a magnificent job portraying the role of Jesus as he shows all of his sides in this material.
