#TheaterPH - ChuvaChooChoo The Mr. Kupido Musicale

Chuva Choo Choo is an Original Filipino Musical inspired by compositions of Mr. Vehnee Saturno.

The play started as two sisters (Morrisette as Darla and Joanna as Dina) battle it out in a singing competition in  Labrador, Panggasinan. The plot revolves with the sisters trying to escape their town as they witnessed a crime involving a politician.

Isang Lahi, Mr. Kupido, Till My Heartache Ends, Bakit Pa?, Someone's Always Saying Goodbye, Be My Lady and Mula Sa Puso are just some of the songs used in this play. I love the transition from scene to scene as it's not dragging and was executed flawlessly.

Fun Fun Fun!

During the Q&A, I am blessed to ask Morissette Amon and Joanna Ampil some questions. According to Morissette, she made adjustments on her movements since in theater, one needs to move and express more than performing in television. She also reiterate that performing in a musical theater play requires higher discipline vocally, mentally and physically. She felt overwhelmed when she became part of a musical last 2013 which caused her a culture shock and treated it as a challenge. As she returns on stage, she said that she's more prepared and matured as a performer. On the other hand, this is Joanna Ampil's first performance in an Original Filipino Musical According to her, biggest adjustment comes from memorizing and delivering lines in Tagalog. As an international theater actress, she's more exposed to foreign materials and when she accepted this project, she stars in another production. Juggling her schedule and finding time to rehearse according to her is a torture as she jokingly shared it to us.

And the winner is...

Also starring are best of the best artists in the theater stage. Edward Benosa plays the character of Zandro, love interest of Darla and brother of Zsazsa, Jojo Riguerra as Tonton, love interest of Dina. Ross Pesigan plays the character of Nenita. Juliene Mendoza as Zsazsa, Ron Alfonso as Lani, Jay Marquez as Regine and Via Antonio plays 8 supporting characters, Chuva Choo Choo is written and directed by seven-time Palanca winner George de Jesus III and produced by Mr. Alvin Trono. Artsy choreography by PJ Rebullida.
