#TravelPH - 17th Anilao Wind Surf Regatta!

“Like any other sport, you get to find some kind of satisfaction when you get to do windsurfing. The experience of sharing the sport with other people who can relate to the feeling you have when you sail is the reason why we flock to this area every weekend. The sport draws us to be part of nature, at the same time, just hanging with other people who enjoy being near the water.” Gabriel Santos, one of the event’s co-head organizers.

A bright Sunday greeted me last April 3, 2016 as I cover the 17th Anilao Wind Surf Regatta. It has been annually done since 1993 at Janao Bay, Anilao, Mabini, Batangas. The two-day event showcased windsurfing aficionados both local and foreign competitors.

Part of the proceeds for this event goes to the Philippine Windsurfing Association (PWA). During this event, it’s also a way to discover talents who can represent the Philippines in competitions outside the country.

Special thanks to Hotel La Corona de Lipa and Victoria Court for inviting me.
