In a world of mid-range smartphones as we check for our day to day activities, one phone caught our attention as we explore the competitive market. We are looking for a device with beautiful design, likeable daylight cameras, and dependable performance.

Unboxing and First Impression

The Realme 12 5G's unveiling process is quite similar to that of the Realme 12 Pro, following a recognizable pattern. When you raise the cover, the handset itself is the first thing you see; its sleek appearance and standout features draw your eye in.

You will immediately discover the 45W charger tucked underneath the handset. A USB Type-C cable, which is essential for charging the device and transferring data, comes with the charger. A clear silicone cover is kept within a different part of the box.

Along with typical literature that provides important information about the device, the box also includes a SIM card removal tool that is required in order to place your SIM card into the phone. When I first held the Realme 12 5G, I was struck by how neatly it maintained the distinctive appearance that distinguished its earlier variants.

Every part of its construction, from the polished PVD edges that add to its beauty to the sunburst dial that produces a light gradient UV pattern, demonstrates the artistry.

Together with luxury watch designer Ollivier Savéo, the complete 12 series is based on the same design language. Luxury timepieces are reported to have inspired the phone's single, round rear camera dial,  back panel design, and vertical diamond-patterned stripe down the middle.

I chose the striking Woodland green color scheme, which has an iridescent, glossy finish that screams modernity and refinement.

With a 7.69mm thin profile and a weight of only 188g, the device is incredibly pleasant to use for lengthy periods of time. I must stress again how very similar the phone is to the Realme 12 Pro series, particularly when looking at it from the outside, supporting the brand's consistent design philosophy throughout its whole product line.

With a peak brightness of 950 nits, the display brightness is remarkable. This indicates that it can still be seen in direct sunlight. With a screen-to-body ratio of 91.4%, the viewing experience is engaging. 16.7 million colors are supported by the display for vivid images.

Sunlight Visibility: Even on sunny days, you can use your phone outside with comfort thanks to the 950nit Sunlight Display. The display stays readable and clear whether you're browsing the web, viewing videos, or checking messages.

Touch Sampling Rate: The screen reacts swiftly to your touch motions thanks to a touch sampling rate that can reach 240Hz. Smooth and responsive touch is what you can expect from the realme 12 5G whether you're gaming, swiping, or scrolling.

Camera Specifications: Pixel binning causes the 108MP primary camera of the Realme 12 5G to default to taking 12.5MP photos. Your most critical photos will have more texture and depth thanks to the 108MP Mode's strong clarity enhancements. It's ideal for preserving incredibly clear memories. Although higher file sizes are involved, you obtain finer details with less harsh processing when you force the main camera to capture in its full 50MP resolution.

With true lossless quality, the realme 12 5G has the only 3X Portrait in its class. This function enhances the bokeh effect and offers more resolution for beautiful portrait photographs. The outcomes are striking whether you're photographing individuals or inanimate items.

With the Night Mode, shooting at night is now easier than ever. It ensures that your low-light portraits stand out by adding brightness to dark shooting settings while maintaining details and clarity. Journey, Maverick, and Memory are three distinct filters that realme created in partnership with Oscar winner for Best Cinematography, Claudio Miranda. With the help of these filters, you can create movie-quality pictures that reflect your unique taste in tone, style, and color.

Performance:

The MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ 5G processor, which powers the realme 12 5G, offers a fluid and effective performance for daily chores and light gaming. Better multitasking is possible with its virtual 16GB RAM expansion feature, which allows setups up to 8GB RAM to be virtually expanded. The majority of apps and games run smoothly on the device, exhibiting little lag or stuttering when used. Although it isn't the best in its class, it delivers dependable performance for the money.

With a 5000mAh battery that lasts for an entire day on a single charge, the realme 12 5G is rather typical of mid-range smartphones. The realme 12 5G achieved an Active Use Score of 13:03 hours in lab testing, which is above average for this battery capacity and roughly in line with what would be anticipated from the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 processor. The phone can charge quickly thanks to the unique 45W SUPERVOOC charging function. Although wireless charging is not supported, the cable rapid charging is effective enough to help you get back on track quickly.

All things considered, the realme 12 5G has a well-rounded feature set that includes a powerful processor, a high-resolution camera, and quick charging. It is a powerful competitor in the mid-range market because of its exceptional display quality and long battery life. When compared to other models, it demonstrates that it is a flexible phone that can accommodate a wide range of user preferences, particularly for those who value the quality of the display and camera over other characteristics like water resistance or expandable storage.
