#CulturePH - Must-see romance film Under Parallel Skies hits Shangri-La Plaza

On April 17, 2024, Shangri-La Plaza, a longtime supporter of international cinema, hosted a special showing of the highly awaited romance drama Under Parallel Skies, starring Janella Salvador, a Filipino actress, at the Red Carpet Cinema.

The film, which also stars Thai actor Win Metawin and was helmed by the distinguished Filipino filmmaker Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, is expected to enthrall viewers with its moving depiction of intercultural relationships. This Philippine-Thailand-Hong Kong production tells the tale of Thai bachelor Parin (Metawin), who travels to Hong Kong in search of his mother, who has been missing for a long time. Then, he meets Iris (Salvador), an OFW and hotel staff, with whom he forges an unexpected friendship and who guides him through love, heartache, and recovery in a strange city. 

Filmed against the bustling backdrops of Hong Kong’s iconic Kowloon City, Peng Chau, and Tai O, Under Parallel Skies held its world premiere at the prestigious 17th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong last March. Following its successful debut, the film had its nationwide theatrical release in the Philippines on April 17. Produced by 28 Squared Studios and Two Infinity Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it’s also slated to hit theaters in Singapore and Thailand in May.
