#Experience: Lancaster New City - Cavite Tour Weekend 3 of 3

GBR Museum

GBR Musem
GBR stands for Geronimo Berenguer de los Reyes Jr., the one who collected more than 3,000 vintage photographs as well as hundreds of model airplanes which can be found inside the museum named after him. The museum exhibits the Philippines’ rich history of culture and the arts.

At the entrance of the museum is a memorial and a detailed account of the Cavite Mutiny of 1872, which was supported by Crisanto de los Reyes, GBR's Ancestor.

The bloody uprising took more than a hundred lives of Filipino patriots who risked their lives for their country. Engraved in granite, this historical monument remembers and honors the brave countrymen who were arrested, falsely charged, indefensively punished, sentenced, and killed. Three of them—priests Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora—were executed by garrote.

There are 154 names engraved on the stone outside the museum. The names of these men are testaments to the bravery and heroism of true Filipinos. One of these patriots is Crisanto Mendoza de los Reyes, the great grandfather of museum chairman and founder, Geronimo Berenguer de los Reyes Jr. He is also joined by friends Maximo P. Inocencio and Enrique S. Paraiso on the list.

STRICT POLICY!

Republic of Cavite Restaurant

A sojourn to the historic province of Cavite is never complete without bringing home special delicacies for which the province came to be known.

And for this goal, the best place to visit is the Republic of Cavite situated right at the heart of Cavite’s capital. Starting from the edifice, the Republic is a replica of Emilio Aguinaldo’s mansion in Kawit, Cavite and has rooms and function halls aptly named after historic places. But the best thing about the restaurant is its wide array of native delicacies that are unique and really delicious as they are prepared with original recipes.

Buchi, Empanada and Pancit Canton
Blockbuster among patrons is Paborito ni Aguinaldo, fried camote strips rolled in ground peanuts and jackfruit strips and finally wrapped in lumpia wrappers. These lip-smacking delicacies are perfectly paired with cold flavored salabat with langka, pandan or tanglad, just pick your choice of flavor.

the ever famous LIHIM NI LOLA!

Who wouldn't be fascinated and intrigued by delicacies called Lihim ni Lola, Lihim ni Emilio and Paborito ni Aguinaldo? Lihim ni Lola is an original recipe of Town’s Delight’s matriarch Mama Cely. One look at it and you would think it’s your ordinary rice pudding. But as you munch the glutinous violet rice cake, you would reach its super delicious filling that only Lihim ni Lola has. It’s called lihim because it is supposed to be a little secret and the only way to discover it is to go grab a piece and unravel the secret for yourself! Lihim ni Emilio, on the other hand, is a yummy dessert consisting of suman sa ibos, chico and mango topped with ice cream and pinipig.

Wrap up!

The province of Cavite has a lot to offer. From a place where you can invest through housing or properties to livelihood programs, job and income generating facilities, recreational activities to historical traveling, for gastronomic adventures or simply discovering authentic Cavite flavors, this province will always have a special part in my heart.
