#FoodPH - Sipping Through a Dream: Inside Singapore’s New “Garden of Senses” Tea Experience

Every now and then, something delightful pops up in the city that feels like a slow exhale—an invitation to pause, wander, and just be. That’s exactly the vibe at Garden of Senses: A Tea Reverie, the Asian Civilisations Museum’s newest multi‑sensory tea experience running from 28 January to 7 June 2026. And trust me, it’s not your usual exhibition. It’s more like you’ve stepped into someone’s living daydream… one infused with the aroma of oolong and jasmine.

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by floating paper sculptures—soft, pale, and cloudlike—almost as if tea leaves decided to drift upward instead of downward. Artist Ashley Yeo created this gentle canopy, and it sets the mood instantly: slow down, breathe, and let yourself settle into a world designed to awaken every sense you’ve been ignoring on your busiest days.

Follow the path and you’ll notice how the air changes. A little breeze of tea fragrances—fresh green tea, warm oolong, deeper earthy blends—wraps around you. There’s something strangely nostalgic about it, even if you can’t quite place the memory. That’s part of the charm: the way scent quietly stirs moments you didn’t know you remembered.

The touch zone feels like stumbling into a behind‑the‑scenes moment of old‑world tea craftsmanship. There are tools, stories, and nods to centuries‑old traditions, yet everything feels very now, like you’re witnessing the evolution of a ritual that still thrives. And then there’s the gallery of tea vessels—ancient designs meeting CHAGEE’s modern cups in a visual dialogue that reminds you how culture never stays still; it transforms, like water meeting leaves.

One of my favorite moments? A soft, rhythmic installation where movement and sound blend into a meditative performance piece. It’s subtle, calming, and almost hypnotic—like listening to someone prepare tea in slow motion.

Of course, all sensory journeys deserve a delicious finale. And this one ends by the river, at CHAGEE’s charming little pop‑up store. It’s serene but lively in its own way—like a modern teahouse that wandered out of a painting. They’re serving curated drinks and exclusive merch, including a gorgeous Linglong porcelain cup and the soft‑green Jasmine Snow candle (which, honestly, feels like bringing home a pocket of the exhibit).

And because no lifestyle adventure is complete without something irresistibly cute… yes, the viral CHAGEE Pony Plushie Charms are part of the fun. They come in blue (exclusive to All Access ticket holders) and brown (available to everyone), and both have tiny design details inspired by tea trade routes and Singapore’s iconic Merlion. Perfect for your bag, your desk, or that corner of your room that needs a bit of happy energy.

If you’ve been craving an experience that blends culture, creativity, calm, and—let’s be real—great tea, this riverside reverie is worth carving out an afternoon for. Think of it as a mini‑retreat in the middle of the city… a place where you’re gently reminded that life tastes better when savored slowly.
