#TheaterPH - CCP National Theatre Live returns with a new season of acclaimed productions
The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), in partnership with National Theatre Live and Ayala Malls Cinemas, brings another exciting lineup of world-class British theatre to Philippine shores through the third season of CCP National Theatre Live, running from July 2026 to July 2027.
Featuring some of the finest stage productions from London's most celebrated theatres, the new season offers audiences the unique opportunity to experience acclaimed plays filmed live on stage and especially adapted for cinema screens. Through this program, CCP continues its commitment to making international theatre more accessible to Filipino audiences.
Following the success of its previous seasons, CCP National Theatre Live expands its reach with screenings at Ayala Greenbelt in Makati, Ayala Vertis North in Quezon City, and Ayala Nuvali in Laguna, bringing exceptional theatre productions closer to audiences in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
The Audience
The
third season opens on July 28 with The Audience screening at Greenbelt
Cinema and Inter Alia at Ayala Vertis North and Ayala Nuvali. The
productions will switch venues on August 25.
Written by Peter Morgan, The Audience imagines a series of private weekly meetings between Queen Elizabeth II and her prime ministers across several decades. Through these conversations, the play offers an intimate look at the monarch's personal reflections and the changing political landscape of modern Britain.
Meanwhile, Inter Alia, the latest work from playwright Suzie Miller, follows a highly accomplished woman whose professional success is challenged by personal and societal expectations. The play examines power, gender, justice, and the complexities of balancing public and private life.
On September 29, all venues will screen Mrs. Warren's Profession, George Bernard Shaw's provocative drama about Vivie Warren, a young woman who discovers the truth behind her mother's wealth. As mother and daughter confront difficult questions about morality, class, and economic survival, the play remains a powerful critique of social hypocrisy and the limited opportunities available to women.
The
season continues with The Fifth Step on October 27 at Greenbelt
Cinema and Frankenstein at Vertis North
and Nuvali. The productions exchange venues on November 24.
Written by David Ireland, The Fifth Step centers on two men brought together through a twelve-step recovery program. What begins as a mentorship evolves into a complex and often darkly humorous exploration of faith, addiction, vulnerability, and the search for redemption.
Based on Mary Shelley's gothic novel and directed by Danny Boyle, Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein and the creature he brings to life through scientific experimentation. Rejected by his creator and feared by society, the Creature embarks on a journey to understand humanity while seeking revenge against the man who abandoned him.
Hamlet
A
holiday screening of Shakespeare's enduring tragedy Hamlet follows on
December 22, simultaneously screening across all participating cinemas. Widely
regarded as one of the greatest plays ever written, Hamlet follows the Prince
of Denmark as he struggles to avenge his father's murder after learning that
his uncle has seized the throne and married his mother. Consumed by grief,
doubt, and moral conflict, Hamlet's quest for justice leads to devastating
consequences.
The
new year begins with two celebrated productions: The Playboy of the Western
World screens at Greenbelt Cinema while Fleabag screens at Vertis
North and Nuvali on January 26.
Set in rural Ireland, The Playboy of the Western World follows Christy Mahon, a timid young man who becomes an unlikely local celebrity after claiming he killed his father. As his reputation grows, the truth behind his story threatens to unravel the admiration he enjoys.
Written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Fleabag is a witty and brutally honest portrait of a young woman navigating grief, loneliness, family tensions, failed relationships, and self-destructive impulses in contemporary London. Both hilarious and heartbreaking, the play inspired the award-winning television series of the same name.
All My Sons
On
February 23, Greenbelt presents Arthur Miller's All My Sons, while
Vertis North and Nuvali screen The Playboy of the Western World.
Set in post-war America, All My Sons follows the Keller family as long-buried secrets emerge about a wartime business scandal. Miller's powerful drama examines guilt, accountability, and the consequences of placing personal success above moral responsibility.
A modern adaptation of Molière's classic satire Misanthrope arrives at Greenbelt Cinema on March 30, while All My Sons screens at Vertis North and Nuvali.
Misanthrope
Misanthrope follows
Alceste, a man who despises society's insincerity and refuses to engage in
social niceties, even as he remains hopelessly in love with the charming and
socially adept.
Célimène. Through sharp wit and biting humor, the play explores honesty, hypocrisy, love, and social convention.
The following month, on April 27, Greenbelt presents Les Liaisons Dangereuses, while Misanthrope moves to Vertis North and Nuvali.
Adapted from Pierre Choderlos de Laclos' classic novel, Les Liaisons Dangereuses follows two aristocratic former lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, as they engage in a dangerous game of seduction and manipulation. Their schemes ultimately spiral into betrayal, heartbreak, and tragedy.
Oscar Wilde's beloved comedy The Importance of Being Earnest screens at Greenbelt Cinema on May 25, while Les Liaisons Dangereuses plays at Vertis North and Nuvali.
One of the most celebrated comedies in the English language, the play follows two young men who invent alternate identities to escape social obligations and pursue romance. A series of mistaken identities, misunderstandings, and witty exchanges culminate in a delightfully absurd examination of Victorian society.
The Importance of Being Earnest
On
June 29, Greenbelt audiences can enjoy Fleabag, while The Importance
of Being Earnest screens at Vertis North and Nuvali.
The season culminates on July 27, with all venues screening Misanthrope, bringing CCP National Theatre Live Season 3 to a close.
All screenings are scheduled at 6:00 PM at Ayala Greenbelt (Makati), Ayala Vertis North (Quezon City), and Ayala Nuvali (Laguna).
