The incredibly talented J-pop artist Kenshi Yonezu is back with a new song, "Azalea," which serves as the theme song for the global Netflix series, Beyond Goodbye. This beautiful track, accompanied by a stunning music video directed by Yuka Yamaguchi, captures the essence of a cityscape before dawn, perfectly setting the mood for the series.

A Heartfelt Theme for a Touching Series

Beyond Goodbye, which started streaming on November 14, 2024, tells the poignant story of Saeko, who faces the heart-wrenching experience of losing her greatest love. The song "Azalea" reflects this emotional journey, touching on the pain of inevitable goodbyes while also highlighting the hope found in cherished memories of love. It's a perfect match for the series, which has already made waves as the first Japanese entry featured at the Busan International Film Festival's Onscreen Category.

Kenshi Yonezu shared his thoughts on the song and the series: "Beyond Goodbye opens with the unusual scenario of Saeko meeting the person who received the heart of her deceased fiancé. While the realities of this world dictate that the chances of this happening are highly unlikely, I think there is an important element to the story that will resonate personally with everyone. As I worked on this song, I reflected on Saeko’s predicament of not knowing where her lost fiancé begins or ends, along with the inner turmoil she faced as she deliberated on whether to maintain her distance. I hope you enjoy listening to this song."

A Star-Studded Cast and Crew

The series, written by the renowned Yoshikazu Okada, stars Kasumi Arimura and Kentaro Sakaguchi. Set against the beautiful backdrops of Hokkaido and Hawaii, Beyond Goodbye explores the enduring power of love through the story of Saeko and Naruse, who are brought together by fate after Naruse receives the heart of Saeko's deceased fiancé.
