#CulturePH - The Manila Hotel Opens Its Doors to the Next Generation of Hospitality Pros
In a move that blends heritage with forward-thinking, The Manila Hotel has teamed up with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to help shape the future of the Philippine hospitality industry. Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the iconic hotel will now serve as an official training ground for aspiring hoteliers and hospitality professionals.
The partnership was announced during the “Kapihan sa Manila Hotel” forum on August 13, 2025, with TESDA Secretary Francisco “Kiko” Benitez in attendance. As part of the collaboration, TESDA awarded The Manila Hotel its first-ever Certificates of TVET Program Registration under the Enterprise-Based Education and Training (EBET) scheme—marking a milestone in hands-on, industry-aligned learning.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to developing skilled professionals who will uphold and elevate Philippine hospitality on the global stage,” said Atty. Jose D. Lina, Jr., President of The Manila Hotel. “Providing real-world training is an investment in the future of the hospitality industry.”
The EBET program is designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience. Trainees will rotate through various departments—from front desk operations to culinary arts—gaining practical skills that meet industry standards and expectations.
Secretary Benitez praised the initiative, calling it a “vital bridge between academic learning and industry needs.” And what better place to learn than The Manila Hotel, a symbol of Filipino elegance and service since 1912?
With this partnership, the next generation of hospitality professionals won’t just be learning from textbooks—they’ll be learning from one of the most storied institutions in the country.
