#MusicPH - Wolf Alice Finds Clarity in Their Boldest Chapter Yet
There’s something magical about music that feels like a conversation with your closest friends—raw, validating, and deeply personal. That’s the energy Wolf Alice channels in their fourth studio album, The Clearing, now out via Sony Music.
The band’s latest offering is a rich tapestry of sound and sentiment, weaving together the introspective musings of adulthood with the sonic confidence of a group that’s truly found its voice. From the nostalgic shimmer of “Leaning Against The Wall” to the playful vulnerability of “Just Two Girls,” each track feels like a snapshot of growth, reflection, and connection.
Lead singer Ellie Rowsell shares that the inspiration behind “Just Two Girls” came from simple dinners with friends—those one-on-one chats that leave you feeling seen and understood. “I think I’ve been trying to figure out a lot of things, like getting older,” she says. “These are things you hash out with your girlfriends and suddenly you don’t feel so bad about them again.”
The Clearing isn’t just an album—it’s a declaration of arrival. Not at a final destination, but at a place of peace with the journey. It’s a sonic evolution that’s both expansive and intimate, recorded in LA with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin and written in Seven Sisters, North London. Think classic pop/rock with a modern twist—Fleetwood Mac vibes, but with a fresh, London edge.
The band marked the release with a special show at Camden’s iconic Dublin Castle, followed by a pop-up event next door where fans got an early listen and exclusive merch. It was a celebration of their roots and their rise—a nod to the journey that brought them here.
Tracks like “Bread Butter Tea Sugar” and “The Sofa” showcase a band unafraid to push boundaries, blending euphoria with quiet introspection. And through it all, Rowsell’s poetic storytelling remains front and center, supported by bandmates Joff, Theo, and Joel, who bring their own flair to this cohesive yet diverse collection.
Wolf Alice has come a long way since their 2013 debut. From the Grammy-nominated “Moaning Lisa Smile” to their Mercury Prize-winning Visions Of A Life, and the Brit Award-winning Blue Weekend, they’ve consistently captured the emotional pulse of a generation. Now, with The Clearing, they’re stepping into a new era—one defined by clarity, confidence, and connection.
This autumn, the band will take The Clearing on the road with a sold-out tour across North America, Europe, the UK, and Ireland, including a headline show at London’s O2 Arena. It’s a fitting stage for a band that’s no longer searching, but fully embracing who they are.
