#TechPH - Pre-order the new HONOR 600 Series from just ₱25,999 and drive home a Mercedes-Benz!

You're out at golden hour. The light is doing that thing where it turns everything cinematic. You pull out your phone, tap the shutter — and the photo that comes back looks like it was taken inside a fluorescent-lit waiting room.

It happens to all of us. And for the longest time, the honest answer was: "Well, it's a mid-range phone. What did you expect?" The good cameras lived at the top of the price ladder, and everything else was a compromise you learned to live with. HONOR seems to have quietly decided that this is an absurd status quo — and their new 600 Series, landing in the Philippines starting at ₱25,999, is the argument they're making against it.

Let's talk about the camera first, because that's really what this phone was built around. The headline spec is a 200MP main sensor sitting on a 1/1.4-inch chip — the largest sensor in this price class. In practical terms, more sensor area means more light captured, which means your photos in dim restaurants and moody bar settings stop looking like impressionist paintings you didn't intend to make. HONOR's AI-enhanced imaging pipeline handles the heavy lifting in processing, with a dedicated color temperature sensor ensuring your skin tones don't shift under mixed lighting — a problem that's plagued smartphone photographers forever.

"Night photography has always been where mid-range phones quietly surrendered. HONOR is choosing not to."

On the Pro version, there's also a 50MP periscope telephoto lens reaching up to 120x zoom and a SuperMoon 2.0 mode — which sounds like a gimmick until you realize how often you've tried to photograph the moon and ended up with a glowing smear. Night photography has always been where mid-range phones quietly surrendered. The 600 Series is choosing not to.

But here's where things get genuinely interesting for the creatively inclined: HONOR has built what they're calling AI Image to Video 2.0 directly into the shooting experience. You feed it up to three of your photos, pair them with a text prompt describing the mood or movement you want, and it produces a short cinematic video sequence — three to eight seconds, stylized, with proper narrative flow. You control the opening frame and the ending frame. It's not a filter. It's closer to having a tiny editing suite in your pocket that actually understands what you were going for. The previous HONOR models using this technology generated over 13 million seconds of AI-created video content. People are clearly using it.

Then there's the battery, which deserves its own moment. The 600 Series carries a 7,000mAh cell — the biggest in HONOR's Number Series history — inside a body that doesn't feel like you're carrying a brick. Through what HONOR calls flagship-grade stacking technology, they've managed to pack this capacity without adding thickness or weight over the previous generation. An AI Battery Scheduling Engine manages how power is distributed across your phone's various functions, which translates to genuine two-day battery life under real-world use. It even keeps core functions running at -20°C with just 20% charge, which matters less in Manila, admittedly, but speaks to how seriously the engineering was taken. Wired charging hits 80W, and the Pro adds 50W wireless — you'll top up faster than you drink your morning coffee.

The display is 6.57 inches, peaks at 8,000 nits of brightness (enough to be legible in direct midday sun), and comes with a 0.98mm bezel — the narrowest in its class — so the screen-to-body ratio feels genuinely premium. It's also rated IP68, IP69, and IP69K, which covers submersion, high-pressure water jets, and basically everything short of taking it scuba diving. The SGS 5-Star Drop and Crush certification rounds out the durability story for those of us who have a complicated relationship with keeping our phones in one piece.

Powering the standard model is a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4; the Pro steps up to a Snapdragon 8 Elite on a 3nm chip — the same silicon powering phones that cost twice as much. For anyone who uses their phone as an actual work device (which, let's be real, is most of us), that processing headroom matters when you're running multiple apps, editing video, or jumping between demanding tasks without wanting the phone to start throttling mid-meeting.

Pre-orders are open now through May 29, and the deal sweetens considerably: every pre-order comes with a free gift box worth ₱1,499 and HONOR Choice Earbuds Clip worth ₱4,999, claimable on May 30. There's also a chance — a legitimately exciting one — to win a Mercedes-Benz EQA 250. That's not a typo.

The HONOR 600 5G starts at ₱25,999 for 8GB + 256GB storage, going up to ₱37,999 for the 12GB + 512GB version. The Pro, with its periscope telephoto and Snapdragon 8 Elite, is ₱49,999 for 12GB + 512GB. At those price points, the question stops being "can I afford this?" and starts being "which version makes the most sense for how I actually use my phone?"

"The best camera is the one you have with you — but it helps a great deal when that camera doesn't embarrass you."The best camera is the one you have with you — that's the old saying, and it's still true. But it helps a great deal when that camera doesn't embarrass you in low light, doesn't flatten your sky into a washed-out gray, and doesn't make you wish you'd brought a different device. What HONOR has built here is a phone for people who care about the images they make, without requiring them to spend flagship money to care. That's a harder problem to solve than it sounds. It looks like they've actually solved it.
