#CulturePH - Celebrating Innovation: SNAP-Magat's Achievement at IAM Awards

SN Aboitiz Power-Magat (SNAP-Magat) has made waves in the asset management world, with its plant manager and assistant vice president, Daryl Homer Ramos, being named one of the top three finalists in the NxtGen Award Category at the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Asset Management Excellence Awards 2024. The prestigious ceremony took place on June 18, 2025, at the IAM Global Conference in London, drawing industry leaders and innovators from around the globe.

The NxtGen Award celebrates individuals who are relatively new to asset management but have already made significant contributions to their organizations. Ramos, the only finalist from the Philippines, currently serves as the Officer-in-Charge for Performance, Reliability, and Asset Management (PRAM), in addition to his role as assistant vice president and plant manager. His leadership is crucial as SNAP continues to grow and expand, overseeing technical reviews and financial assessments of new projects.

Expressing his gratitude, Ramos said, "It’s an honor and privilege to be a finalist, given that the IAM is the premier organization leading private and public companies in asset management maturity and implementation worldwide. Thank you to SNAP for the opportunity to represent the company on the global stage, and especially to the SNAP-Magat and PRAM teams for the continued teamwork and excellence. You make working multiple roles possible.”

SNAP boasts a robust portfolio of renewable energy assets, including the 112.5-MW Ambuklao and 140-MW Binga hydroelectric power plants in Benguet, the 360-MW Magat hydroelectric power plant on the border of Isabela and Ifugao, the 8.5-MW Maris hydro, and the 24-MW Magat battery energy storage facility in Isabela.

Mike Hosillos, SNAP's Chief Operations Officer, emphasized the importance of asset management in their operations: “As a renewable energy operator and developer, we recognize the importance of proper asset management and building the competence of our asset management teams. Effective asset management is not just best practice — it's a cornerstone of our capability to deliver reliable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions. Through globally-recognized asset management practices, we build trust with our stakeholders, drive long-term value, and contribute to a brighter energy future.”

The Institute of Asset Management, established in 1994, is the international professional body for asset management professionals. It develops asset management knowledge, recognizes best practices across industries, and generates awareness of the benefits of the asset management discipline for individuals, organizations, and wider society.

This achievement not only highlights SNAP's excellence but also serves as a springboard for further innovation and advancement in the asset management industry.
