#CulturePH - Beer, Beats, and Big Memories: Okada’s Oktoberfest That Felt Like Home

Last weekend Okada Manila felt less like a resort and more like the friendliest block party in town. Crowds poured into the Crystal Pavilion for two nights of good beer, louder music, and those easy, unforgettable moments that only happen when a place and a vibe sync up perfectly.

The room hummed from the moment the first toast went up, with leaders from San Miguel Brewery, brand ambassador Coco Martin, and Okada’s team kicking things off. From there it was a steady stream of discoveries: fresh draft pours, experimental brews like an India Pale Ale and Fruity Wheat Ale, and the comfort of the classics people came back for. Complimentary samplers meant trying felt like a small adventure, and the new Draft Beer Mobile Bar Truck made sure thirsty crowds never had to stray far from the action.

Food and fashion showed up just as strong as the beer. Pop-up stalls from Las Flores, Café Fleur by Chef Sau, Flipside Burgers, and Purefoods Deli lined the venue’s winding paths, offering everything from clever bar bites to full-on comfort plates. Limited-edition merch made the rounds for anyone who wanted to take the night home in a tangible way.

Music carried the whole thing. Familiar favorites and up-and-comers traded the stage—Rico Blanco, Lola Amour, December Avenue, Arthur Nery, Autotelic, The Dawn, and more—so whether you wanted to sing along, sway, or dance like nobody was watching, there was a soundtrack for it. DJs kept the tempo moving between sets so the energy never dipped.

The party also leaned into playful surprises. The San Miguel Beermen dropped by for a shootaround, turning part of the crowd into impromptu teammates. Billiards legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante ran an exhibition and dared attendees to step up to the table. Those little detours from the main stage felt like the event’s secret sauce—memories you didn’t plan for but were glad to have.

It all added up to something more than a brand activation. The Oktoberfest felt like a celebration of togetherness: a place where friends reunited, new friends were made, and every toast seemed to underscore why live gatherings still matter.

If you missed Okada, there’s another shot at the same energy. San Miguel is bringing the Oktoberfest spirit to the Paseo de Santa Rosa in Laguna on October 18 and to Queensland Manor in Cebu City on October 31. Expect the same mix of curated brews, food pop-ups, and big-name acts. Tickets are available through Ticket2Me, and the event’s Facebook page keeps the latest lineups and promos handy.

Come for the beer, stay for the music, and leave with the kind of story you’ll tell friends over your next drink.
