The first hospital in the nation to achieve Investors in People's Platinum Accreditation is Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) (IiP). Cardinal Santos is now the fifth organization to win the highest honor from the international accrediting authority as a result. CSMC is currently ranked 83 out of 1074 organizations worldwide that participated in the accreditation process, placing fourth among 69 organizations in the Human Health & Medical Activities Category.
The certification, which has a validity period of 2022 to 2025, is the result of the hospital receiving the highest level of IiP approval during the re-accreditation procedure. An organization's executives and employees must have a high degree of trust, empowerment, and cooperation in order to receive a platinum accreditation.
CSMC is one of the premier hospitals in the Philippines, specializing in the fields of Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, and Rehabilitation Medicine and employs over 1000 employees including medical staff such as doctors and nurses, and office staff.
Journey to Platinum
CSMC began working with IiP about ten years ago after realizing the value of its staff in delivering the excellent standard of patient care and service for which the hospital is renowned. CSMC has gone through various accreditation stages throughout the years, earning Gold status in 2019, and ultimately breaking through and reaching the highest level this 2022.
Employees of Cardinal Santos responded to a survey that measured their satisfaction with the services and support they receive from their company as part of the arduous accreditation procedure to attain platinum status. The organization's score in this year's poll was five points higher than it was in 2019.
The next rounds of assessment came as a series of interviews with select members of the organization both online and in person. IiP representatives then visited the hospital to observe, and also interview employees on their thoughts on how Cardinal Santos supports them not just in their working environment but on how they are supported in their own professional journey
What’s Next?
This honor is granted to all Caring Cardinal leaders who have embodied the hospital's ideals and sacrificed much of themselves to helping those they serve heal and improve their lives. Cardinal Santos cannot let up in its commitment to serving its community as a whole. Making an action plan to support ongoing employee improvement and value, as well as receiving monthly check-ins from IiP, is a requirement for maintaining accreditation for the following three years.
