#FitnessPH - Herbalife Nutrition’s APAC Survey Reveals Inconvenience as Top Barrier Preventing Filipino Consumers from Eating Healthier Breakfasts

Herbalife Nutrition, a premier global nutrition company, is committed to helping people improve their nutrition habits. During a recently conducted Wellness Tour, Susan Bowerman, the company’s Senior Director of Worldwide Nutrition Education and Training, met members of media and talked about the benefits of a healthy breakfast and how to put healthy nutrition habits into practice in daily living. 

At any age and for whatever health objective, Bowerman stressed the value of developing the daily ritual of eating a balanced and nourishing breakfast. It will help you jump-start your metabolism for the day and provide you the energy to concentrate on your work or schoolwork. According to Bowerman, "the importance of fuelling yourself appropriately in the morning determines how your body will operate throughout the day." A healthy breakfast and proper nutrition management are crucial for sustaining excellent health.

Inconvenience is the main factor preventing Filipino consumers from eating healthier breakfasts, according to Herbalife Nutrition's 2021 Breakfast Habits Survey, which surveyed 6,000 respondents across 12 markets in the Asia Pacific, including the Philippines. Of those surveyed, 44% said that healthier breakfast options are not easily accessible to them, and 33% said that healthier breakfast options take too long to prepare. The survey also showed that several respondents believed the widespread fallacy that eating breakfast simply adds extra calories.

“Many times, when people skip breakfast, they either end up making up for it by eating more during the rest of the day. Or, they make very poor food choices the rest of the day, and may eat foods that are high in sugar and fat, making skipping breakfast no guarantee of weight loss,” Bowerman comments.

“A healthier breakfast does not necessarily take too long to make. There are a wide range of fuss-free breakfast options that are nutrient-dense, yet are easy and quick to prepare.
