#ArtPH - Design the Future: Benilde Open Design + Art 2025 Calls for Visionaries

What if machines could breathe? What if materials could evolve? What if the future didn’t just mimic nature—but extended it?

These are the kinds of questions sparking imagination at this year’s Benilde Open Design + Art 2025, a nationwide call for creatives ready to push boundaries and reimagine what’s possible. With the theme “Extension of Nature,” the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde invites artists, designers, engineers, architects, technologists, and storytellers to explore how art and innovation can work in harmony with the environment.

Inspired by the world of kinetic art—where creations move, respond, and adapt—this year’s open call celebrates the intersection of nature, technology, and human creativity. Think solar-powered sculptures, poetic machines, hybrid ecosystems, and materials that tell stories. It’s a space for bold ideas that live between invention and imagination.

And here’s the exciting part: up to ten selected projects will receive production grants of up to Php 300,000 to bring their concepts to life. A respected jury of local and international creatives will review the proposals, looking for work that challenges convention and sparks conversation.

There’s also a special spotlight on student talent through the Best of Benilde category. Open exclusively to Benilde students, this juried showcase will award five standout proposals with Php 50,000 each, giving young creatives the chance to transform school projects into real-world impact.

This initiative is powered by a dynamic team of convenors—Ayi Magpayo, Rita Nazareno, Gabby Lichauco, Joselina Cruz, and Dindin Araneta—with the support of Br. Dodo Fernandez FSC, Benilde’s president and a practicing visual artist. Together, they’re building a platform that champions collaboration, experimentation, and radical thinking.

As Benilde marks its 35th year, the College continues to lead with innovation and inclusion, nurturing the next generation of changemakers in creative, digital, and service industries.

Submissions are open until July 30, 2025. Whether you’re a student with a vision or a professional with a prototype, this is your chance to shape tomorrow’s world.
