#CulturePH - Celebrate the Wonder of Our Oceans: Join SM’s Nationwide Coastal Cleanup on June 7

There’s something powerful about standing at the edge of the sea, feeling the breeze, and knowing you’re part of something bigger. This June 7, SM Cares invites everyone to take that feeling one step further—by rolling up your sleeves and joining thousands of volunteers across the country for a meaningful cause: the annual Coastal Cleanup Drive in celebration of World Oceans Day 2025.

With this year’s theme, “WONDER: Sustaining What Sustains Us,” the event is more than just a cleanup—it’s a call to action. It’s about recognizing the oceans as life-givers and taking responsibility for their protection.

Organized by SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, the cleanup will take place simultaneously in multiple coastal locations nationwide. From students and employees to local government units and environmental groups, the initiative brings together a diverse community united by a shared goal: to protect our marine ecosystems and promote sustainable living.

This event is part of SM’s broader #SMWasteFreeFuture campaign, which includes year-round efforts like plastic waste reduction, recycling markets, and e-waste disposal drives. It’s also one of three major coastal cleanups planned by SM Cares for the year, reinforcing their long-term commitment to environmental stewardship.

Whether it’s students from NU Nazareth School collecting debris at SM by the BAY, or employees hauling sacks of waste with purpose and pride, each act of participation sends a powerful message: we all have a role to play in preserving our planet.

How to Get Involved:

Volunteers can sign up through the SM Malls Online App. Keep an eye on the official social media pages of participating SM malls for updates and site-specific schedules.
