#MusicPH - An Evening with Cecile Licad: A Rare Musical Encounter at Gallery MiraNila
This October, prepare to be swept away by an unforgettable night of music and elegance as world-renowned pianist Cecile Licad returns to Metro Manila for a one-night-only solo performance. Set against the lush, garden-lined backdrop of Gallery MiraNila, Cecile Licad Up Close promises an intimate and soul-stirring experience on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Known globally as “a pianist’s pianist,” Licad brings her signature brilliance to a carefully curated repertoire that spans romantic and early modern masterpieces. Expect to be moved by Beethoven’s haunting Moonlight Sonata, enchanted by Schumann’s whimsical Carnaval, and dazzled by Liszt’s dramatic St. Francis de Paolo Walking on the Waves. She’ll also revisit three Scott Joplin pieces she recently performed at Carnegie Hall, and close with Chopin’s beloved Ballade No. 1 in G Minor—a piece the composer himself held dear.
Licad’s illustrious career includes collaborations with the world’s most prestigious orchestras and conductors, from Zubin Mehta and Seiji Ozawa to Sir Georg Solti and Mstislav Rostropovich. Her artistry continues to captivate audiences across continents, most recently touring with Wynton Marsalis in a live performance of Louis, a modern silent film inspired by Louis Armstrong’s early years.
This concert at Gallery MiraNila offers a rare chance to witness her genius in a setting that feels more like a private recital than a grand hall. With only one performance in Metro Manila, it’s an evening that promises to be both personal and profound.
