#FinancePH - Estudyantipid: Making Financial Literacy Fun and Practical for Filipino Youth
Money talk isn’t always the most exciting topic for students, but what if learning about finances could be as engaging as your favorite school activity? That’s exactly what BPI Foundation is aiming for with the latest episodes of Estudyantipid—a creative educational series designed to help Filipino youth master the basics of money management.
Recently, the buzz was all about the on-ground premiere at Rizal High School in Pasig City. Hundreds of junior and senior high school students gathered for an interactive session that went beyond the usual classroom lecture. There were hands-on activities, lively discussions, and a sneak peek at the new Estudyantipid episodes, which focus on real-world topics like scam and fraud awareness, and understanding the difference between gross and net profit in business.
Carmina Marquez, Executive Director of BPI Foundation, summed it up perfectly: financial education is a cornerstone of empowerment. By giving young people practical money skills early on, we’re helping build a generation that’s not just smart with their studies, but also savvy with their savings.
Teachers and school leaders are on board, too. They see the value in weaving financial literacy into the curriculum—something that’s often missing in traditional education. Thanks to the Knowledge Channel’s Portable Media Library, schools now have access to Estudyantipid and a whole library of educational content to make learning richer and more relevant.
What makes Estudyantipid stand out is its relatable storytelling. The latest episodes break down tricky concepts like gross profit versus net profit and offer practical tips to spot and avoid scams—skills that are just as important as math or science in today’s world.
This initiative is part of BPI Foundation’s broader FinEd Unboxed program, which brings financial education to schools, communities, and organizations nationwide. Estudyantipid airs several times a week on TV and online, making it easy for students and families to tune in and pick up valuable lessons.
Financial literacy doesn’t have to be boring or intimidating. With programs like Estudyantipid, learning how to manage money becomes a life skill that’s accessible, practical, and even fun.
