#FinancePH - GCash at Manila Tech Summit 2025: How Digital Finance Is Changing Everyday Life
Digital transformation isn’t just a buzzword—it’s reshaping how Filipinos manage money, run businesses, and plan for the future. At the Manila Tech Summit 2025, leaders from government and the private sector came together to talk about what’s next for the country’s digital economy. And right at the heart of the conversation was GCash, the finance super app that’s become a daily essential for millions.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. set the tone, sharing how the digital sector has grown to P2.25 trillion and created over 11 million jobs. But as he pointed out, there’s still plenty of room to grow, and building better internet infrastructure is key to making sure every Filipino can benefit.
GCash’s message was clear: financial inclusion is for everyone. Oscar Enrico “Ren-Ren” Reyes, Jr., president and CEO of G-Xchange, Inc., talked about how GCash is helping unbanked communities, supporting small businesses, and making financial services accessible to all. It’s not just about payments and transfers—GCash is building “digital rails” that make it easier and safer for people to save, invest, and even borrow money.
Winsley Bangit, group head for new businesses at Mynt, highlighted how GCash is more than just an app. It’s a full ecosystem, with self-service kiosks, partnerships with banks, and grassroots fintech players working together to make financial tools available to everyone, no matter where they live or how much they earn. From bill payments and savings to investments like GFunds and GBonds, GCash is helping users prepare for emergencies and reach their long-term goals.
Lending is another area where GCash is making a difference. Through Fuse Financing Inc., GCash offers responsible digital loans—even to those who don’t have traditional credit histories. With products like GLoan Sakto, users can borrow small amounts to bridge gaps between paydays, avoiding predatory lending schemes. By using alternative data and AI-powered trust scoring, GCash is opening doors for people who’ve been left out by traditional banks.
Of course, safety is a top priority. GCash’s chief information security officer, Miguel Geronilla, explained how the company invests in advanced security measures and works with other institutions to keep users protected. It’s not just about technology—it’s about building trust and making sure users know what to do if something goes wrong.
The Manila Tech Summit was a showcase of how digital finance is driving progress, empowering small businesses, and making life easier for everyday Filipinos. GCash’s commitment to financial inclusion, fair lending, and user safety is helping build a more inclusive and resilient digital economy—one transaction at a time.
