#CulturePH - Cebu, Get Ready to Rock: School of Rock Hits the Stage with Heart, Humor, and a Whole Lot of Volume
There’s something electric brewing in Cebu’s theatre scene—and it’s not just the sound of guitars tuning up. This June, 2TinCans Philippines, Inc. is bringing the high-energy, feel-good musical School of Rock to life, and it’s shaping up to be the kind of show that makes you want to stand up, sing out, and maybe even start your own band.
Based on the cult-classic 2003 film and powered by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s explosive score, School of Rock is more than just a musical—it’s a celebration of individuality, creativity, and the magic that happens when someone finally believes in you.
A Stage for Dreamers and Rock Stars-in-the-Making
Directed by 2TinCans founder Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson, the production is a joyful mash-up of professional polish and raw student passion. The cast features young talents from the 2TinCans Theatre Lab performing alongside seasoned members of the 2TinCans Theatre Company. It’s a powerful blend that showcases the next generation of Cebuano performers in their loudest, proudest form yet.
“This isn’t just a show—it’s a shout,” says Enclona-Henderson. “It’s about raising your voice, pushing boundaries, and saying yes to your wildest, weirdest, most wonderful self.”
More Than Music—It’s a Movement
At its core, School of Rock is about mentorship, confidence, and how music can bridge generations. It’s a story that resonates with kids discovering their voice and parents learning to listen. With laugh-out-loud moments, heart-tugging scenes, and songs that will have you humming all the way home, this is a show the whole family can rock out to—together.
Expect to hear crowd favorites like “You’re in the Band,” “Stick It to the Man,” and “Teacher’s Pet,” all performed with the kind of energy only a cast this passionate can deliver.
