#TheaterPH - Step into the spotlight—Maxie Oliveros is making her grand return, and she’s more fabulous than ever.

This June, the beloved queer icon of Filipino pop culture takes center stage once again in Dalaga na si Maxie Oliveros: A Drag Musical Extravaganza, an immersive theatrical experience that promises to dazzle, move, and ignite conversations. Running from June 13 to 22, 2025, at Illumination Studio in Makati City, this bold new production is more than just a sequel—it’s a celebration of identity, resilience, and unapologetic self-expression.

Set five years after the events of Maxie the Musical, the story picks up with Maxie navigating the complexities of young adulthood—love, heartbreak, and the ever-evolving journey of self-discovery. But this isn’t your typical stage show. Here, the audience becomes part of Maxie’s world, with performances unfolding all around them in a vibrant, interactive spectacle that blends drag, music, and theater into one unforgettable Pride Month event.

The production builds on the legacy of Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, the award-winning 2005 film that first introduced Maxie to audiences, and the 2013 musical that followed. Now, Maxie returns—older, bolder, and more radiant than ever.

Taking on the iconic role is rising star Jamila Rivera from Naga City, whose powerful voice and magnetic drag artistry breathe new life into Maxie. She’s joined by a stellar cast of drag royalty and theater veterans, including Zymba Ding, Corazon, MRS TAN, Winter Sheason Nicole, Jem Manicad, Gerhard Krystoppher, and Gabriel Villaruel, with a dynamic ensemble that brings every glittering scene to life.

Directed by Melvin Lee and written by Julia Icawat Enriquez and Mikaundre Gozum Santos, the show features original music and arrangements by JJ Pimpinio. Together, they’ve crafted a production that’s part drag show, part musical, and part rallying cry—a space where queer joy and resistance take center stage.
