#FinancePH - Young Filipinos Are Turning to AI for Mental Health Support—Here’s Why That Matters
In a world where stress, uncertainty, and digital overload have become part of daily life, young Filipinos are finding new ways to care for their mental health—and they’re doing it with the help of technology.
According to the newly released 2025 AXA Mind Health Report, Filipinos aged 18 to 34 are facing some of the highest levels of stress, anxiety, and depression globally. But they’re also leading the charge in seeking support, especially through digital and AI-powered tools.
A Generation Seeking Solace—and Solutions
The report reveals that nearly 70% of Filipinos experience at least mild symptoms of mental distress. Financial worries, job insecurity, loneliness, and even climate change are among the top stressors. But despite these challenges, Gen Z and Millennials in the Philippines are showing remarkable resilience.
In fact, 39% of young Filipinos are now using AI-powered mental health tools—well above the global average of 28%. From self-check apps to online therapy platforms, they’re embracing tech as a way to reflect, recharge, and reconnect with themselves.
The Rise of Digital Self-Care
Half of all Filipinos now turn to digital platforms—like blogs, forums, and social media—for mental health support. Tools like AXA’s Mind Health Self-Check are helping people assess their emotional well-being and take early action when needed. And with more health plans now including mental health consultations, access to care is slowly becoming more inclusive.
“Mental health is not just a personal issue—it’s a public one,” says AXA Philippines CEO Ayman Kandil. “And tackling it requires shared understanding, accessible tools, and sustained support.”
Workplaces Can—and Should—Do More
The report also highlights the role of employers in shaping mental wellness. With Filipino workers reporting some of the highest stress levels globally, there’s a clear opportunity for companies to step up. Creating psychologically safe spaces, encouraging open conversations, and supporting mental health literacy can make a real difference.
A Call for Early Support and Community Care
As more young people turn to self-guided tools, the need for early, accessible mental health resources becomes even more urgent. From simple self-checks to insurance plans that acknowledge mental health conditions, the shift toward holistic care is gaining momentum.
The 2025 AXA Mind Health Report is a powerful reminder that mental wellness is a shared journey. And with the right tools, support, and understanding, we can all take steps toward a healthier, more compassionate future.
